  • Fixes: Fixed the translation panel bringing Settings forward, installer file permissions, and other issues.
  • App name: The Chinese app name is now NearKit too.

0.4.5

Build 26

  • QR code recognition: Decode on device, copy results and open web links.
  • Screenshot preview: Drag out, copy, save, pin or restore the original selection to keep editing.
  • Screenshot beautification: Style captures with backgrounds, padding, shadows, rounded corners, window frames and presets.
  • Improved pins: Adjust opacity and lock pins for click-through, with improved dragging and controls.
  • Improved capture: Capture with a delay or reuse the last region. Scrolling captures are automatically copied and previewed.
  • Toolbar customization: Show or hide buttons, drag to reorder and customize actions within groups.

System requirements: macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon Mac. Screenshots require Screen Recording permission; QR code and text recognition run on device.

0.4.4

Build 25

An upgraded global search, grid selection for Window Layout, and a refreshed website with animated demos.

  • Global search: more within reach: Search NearKit from any of the main panel’s three tabs. Find features, settings, widget styles and existing widgets, plus clipboard full text and existing OCR indexes. Launch features, locate widgets or change common settings directly in the results, with previews, an expanded results list and improved typing and scrolling responsiveness.
  • Grid layout: drag out the space you need: The Window Layout menu now offers a Grid mode that adapts to your display. Drag across cells to preview an area, then release to apply. Press Esc to cancel, or use arrow keys to move and extend the selection. Grid layouts respect window spacing, Stage Manager reserved space and layout restoration.
  • A refreshed website, with features in motion: A redesigned homepage introduces eight animated demos covering search, Window Layout, shortcuts, widgets, clipboard, screenshots, recording and selection translation. Click a chapter to replay key steps, including the upgraded search and grid layouts, with clearer help navigation and privacy information.
  • More reliable screenshots: Fixed window preselection for Shadowrocket, undo behavior when re-editing text and consecutive notifications disappearing early. Capture permission denials are handled correctly, and failed saves of pinned screenshots now show an error.
  • Clearer controls and setup: Reduced repeated instructions in shortcuts, recording settings and the focus timer. Window Layout shortcut setup now checks installation after import and offers a clear next step when ready.

System requirements: macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon Mac. Window Layout requires the bundled shortcut. Clipboard full-text and OCR search follow your existing privacy and recognition settings.

0.4.3

Build 24

The website build now uses App Sandbox, with updated permission, browser, and recording workflows and a fix for the app icon on newer macOS versions.

  • Sandbox and permission workflows: Window layout uses a system shortcut. Selection translation supports Services and standard copy; automatic paste checks the original window. Relaunch after permission changes uses public system APIs.
  • You choose which files to access: Choose and authorize files or folders through the system picker when needed. After upgrading, you may need to select some folders and custom save locations again.
  • Keep your familiar setup after upgrading: Your first upgrade migrates your settings, desktop widgets and their content, and key bindings. If you have already tried the new version, it keeps the data saved during that trial.
  • Chrome and screen recording: Tab management supports Chrome with window and tab identity checks. Site icons use the app cache and public sources. Window and display recording use the system picker, and recording key display reports monitoring failures.
  • A focused feature set: Removed standalone image editing, video trimming, sequence capture, and Finder extension entry points. Screenshots, scrolling capture, pinning, OCR, and translation remain. The mirror is controlled manually, and Settings includes a privacy policy link.
  • App icon appearance: Fixed the black background around the app icon on newer macOS versions and included high-resolution icon assets.

System requirements: macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon Mac. Window layout requires adding the bundled shortcut.

  • Closing the panel from the icon: Fixed clicking near the edge of the menu bar icon reopening the main panel instead of closing it.
  • Shortcuts while a menu is open: Fixed modifier-only shortcuts, such as Control on its own, not toggling the main panel while a menu is open.

  • Favorites and groups: Drag cards onto the Favorites or group tabs to organize them, or favorite them from the context menu. Edit text and recognize text in images.
  • Multiple files: Files copied together are kept as one item; pasting, dragging out, and previewing include all of them.
  • Size limits: Choose a 5, 10, 20, or 50 MB limit for text and images. Files and videos are no longer limited by size, and Settings shows storage usage.
  • Screenshot Auto Paste: A new option pastes screenshots automatically after you copy them. Off by default.
